Forward-facing sonar (or live sonar) is all the rage in tournament bass fishing, and lots of anglers are convinced it's the only way to win. This past weekend, saw a couple guys winning tournaments (Bass University's Justin Kimmel won a BFL at Lake Oconee and John Cox won a Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit event on Smith Lake) in shallow water where electronics played little or no part in catching bass, and traditional sonar was employed mostly to keep from running aground.
